Turtle power! The first teaser trailer for the new Michael Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live-action reboot was released today and it looks tubular!
The trailer was released on the film’s new website TurtlesTrailer.com. To access the trailer, you had to type in the secret password “ooze” to unlock the new trailer. Or…you could just head over to YouTube to see it.
Since it’s a teaser trailer, we don’t know much about the plot yet. But we do see that New York City is in turmoil and get a quick glimpse of the turtles new awesome designs. The trailer has a Transformers and Dark Knight vibe to it, which reflects the new more mature tone that this franchise will have. There is a bit of humor mixed in as well, which is such an integral part of the TNMT franchise. Hopefully the film finds a nice balance between humor and seriousness.
Regarding characters, we see April O’Neil, who is played by the gorgeous Megan Fox. It was also great seeing Vernon Fenwick played by Will Arnett. The trailer has a funny bit at the end where Michelangelo (voiced by Noel Fisher) approaches and scares April and tries to calm her down by taking off his mask, saying “It’s just a mask. See? Don’t freak out.”
The other turtles are voiced by Alan Ritchson (Raphael), Jeremy Howard (Donatello), and Pete Ploszek (Leonardo). Other talent includes Whoopi Goldberg (Bernadette Thompson), William Fichtner (The Shredder), and Danny Woodnburn (Splinter).
The synopsis reads:
“The city needs heroes. Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April O’Neil (Megan Fox) and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick (Will Arnett) to save the city and unravel Shredder’s diabolical plan.”
Good thing the trailer was released now because Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hits theatres in just five months on August 8, 2014.
