We got a new trailer and screenshots for Disney’s newest addition to its wildly successful Tinker Bell franchise, The Pirate Fairy.  Both the trailer and the screenshots give us insight into the film’s swashbuckling pirate theme as well as a look at some familiar faces from the Peter Pan universe.

The trailer starts off on the biggest night in the fairy world: the four season’s festival. But the party gets interrupted when a fairy named Zarina steals the blue fairy dust, which is essential to make all the fairies fly. Tinker Bell and her gang set off to find the thief and discover that she’s also the captain to a band of pirates. When Tinker Bell confronts Zarina, Zarina uses some magic dust to mix up Tinker Bell and her friend’s talents. It’s up to Tinker Bell to get the blue dust back and save the fairy world.

I really enjoy the Tinker Bell films. We’ve heard rumors that The Pirate Fairy is going to be the second to last Tinker Bell film. So it’s nice that they are starting to introduce more of Peter Pan elements such as pirates, Captain Hook and the crocodile. The pirate theme is fun because we get to see the pirates attempts to use the pixie dust to make their ship fly. It will even more interesting to see how DisneyToon Studios closes the loop and makes the full transition from this series to Tink’s relationship with Peter Pan.

Zarina is an interesting character because she’s one of the first fairies we see who lives and interacts with humans. It’s no doubt that Zarina’s relationship with the pirates and James will influence Tink’s decision to stay with Peter in the future. I am really interested in The Pirate Fairy and think that it will be yet another fantastic film in the Tinker Bell franchise.

Check out the screenshots and official character images below.

The Pirate Fairy will be available April 1, 2014. You can pre-order it now on Amazon.

How do you like the new trailer and screenshots? Are you looking forward to ‘The Pirate Fairy’?
