To coincide with its new animated movie, Disney will release a Frozen box set for use with its new video game Disney Infinity. This box set contains the characters of Anna and Elsa and two power discs that change Toy Box mode into a Frozen landscape.
Anna’s powers in the game will allow her to use a climbing hook as a weapon. This is similar to Mrs. Incredible’s stretch powers, which increases her range of attack. She will also use a shovel for melee combat.
Elsa doesn’t need the help of weapons, since she has her ice and snow powers to protect her. She uses these to fight off and freeze enemies who attack her.
It seems inevitable that other characters such as Olaf and Kristoff will be made available for Disney Infinity in the future. It’s interesting that the first Frozen pack available is of the two princesses, considering the majority of Frozen‘s marketing has been geared around Olaf.
I personally don’t have Disney Infinity yet, but it looks like such a fun game to play for Disney fans like me. I can see it being quite popular whether you have little children or are just a big Disney fan yourself. I especially see this Frozen set being the gateway pack for Frozen fans who otherwise may not have played Disney Infinity.
If you have the game, I suggest picking this playset up for the holidays when it is released November 26, 2013. I imagine once the movie comes out, these characters are going to be one hot commodity. One thing that has thrown me off on purchasing this game is the Power Packs are sold in blind packs, meaning that you don’t know what you get until you open them up. I used to collect Magic: The Gathering cards, which are sold in a similar way. This is a little sneaky (and common) way to sell a product because people are always hoping that with each new pack, they’ll get the power discs that they have been searching for.
