‘Frozen’ Behind the Scenes: Voice Acting, Soundtrack, Animation! (Spoilers)

Ready for some more Frozen goodness? Stitch Kingdom has released three new videos showing off some behind the scenes development for Frozen.  Of course, the videos contains plot spoilers, so if you want to keep everything a surprise when you see the film, you may not want to watch these videos.

This video is entirely focused on voice recording.  It displays some of the great chemistry between Kristen Bell (Anna) and Idina Menzel (Elsa).  Also featured are Jonathan Groff (Kristoff) and Josh Gad (Olaf), whose improv skills seem to be at full force in this short clip.  Santino Fontana (Hans) and Alan Tudyk (Duke of Weselton) are also included in this video.  Directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee are also in the video, shown setting up the story and motives for the characters.

Here’s the second video, which focuses on recording some of the songs from the movie:

This clip features the songs “Fixer Upper,” “For The First Time In Forever,” “Do You Want To Build A Snowman?” and “Love Is An Open Door.”  It also shows Christophe Beck, composer of Frozen’s score, working with Robert Lopez and Kristen-Anderson Lopez to make the score and the songs cohesive with each other.

The third clip focuses on animation.  It shows Disney animators using hand-drawn animation to test out characters’ movements and behavior.  It also shows the animators working with their CG character rig, as well as the directors giving feedback on the progress of the animation.

Disney’s newest animated adventure Frozen hits US theaters on November 27th, exactly one month from today. Stay tuned for more as the film’s release date inches closer!

Love the songs, especially Fixer Upper! I have a feeling that one will be an earworm once the soundtrack comes out.

  • Max den Hartog

The voice actors are amazing! Can’t wait to see them in the movie. I love the songs I’ve heard so far, ‘Upper Fixer’ sounds fun and the storyboards in the clip looked good, I love ‘Love is an open door’ and ‘Do you want to build a snowman?’ Sound very emotional, poor Anna…

  • Ariel

The songs sound great! I love Fixer Upper, it sounds so funny! I also love that some of the actors got to voice act in the same room. You don’t see that very often. I can only remember Wreck-it Ralph doing something like this. 🙂

  • Debbie

I love seeing the process of the actors recording the character’s voices. The songs sound awesome. I like Do you want to build a Snowman in particular. Also, Alan Tudyk who voices the Duke of Weselton is awesome at doing voices for characters. He brings a lot of personality to doing that. I really like the cast for this movie.

  • I want to keep this a surprise and not watch the videos, but a little voice inside me is saying, “WATCH IT, WATCH IT!”

    • Brianna

The second video is the only one I’m watching. There aren’t any spoilers.(Unless you really don’t want to hear the music either!)

      • I actually want to keep the music a surprise as well, but thanks anyway!

        • Brianna

Totally understandable!! Can’t wait for this movie!!

          • We should organize a “Rotoscopers fans/staff group viewing” of the film, lol!

          • Fadi Antwan

Except that we each live hundreds if not thousands of miles apart lol!

    • Not Without

      So torn!

  • Natalie

These videos make me unbelievably happy. I can’t wait any longer for this movie!

  • Fadi Antwan

Is it possible for me to get any more excited for this film? NO!!!! I CAN’T WAIT Aghhhh!

  • Stephanie

Bookmarked until after I see the movie. Only one month to go…heaven help me.

  • Ember Lily

Do you want to build a snowman is going to be the most heart breaking song ever

    • Erica

      You are so right!!!

I am mentally and physically unable to NOT watch these videos. I mean the thought of NOT watching them doesnt even cross my mind. Literaly Disney wasnt lying when they said this is going to be the best movie ever. Lets all just take a moment to bless the rotoscopers for feeding our uncontrollable need for Frozen. THANK YOU SO MUCH

  • Aliscen Khaw

Thanks for the video’s n i’m so sososo sorry to say this! i hate the songs==, the only good one was the background music(i’m so sorry) i had high hopes cause they replace alan menken, so i thought the songs would still be ok , but the 1st song and the song little anna sings, its like something i heard from a kid cartoon series == ( sophia the 1st, madeline….?) i don’t know menken’s song always has this original feeling, but frozen’s….just didn’t cut it for me T.T(n i was so looking forward to the songs)

    • Aliscen Khaw

I even felt that princess and the frong had more vibe than frozen’s song( and menken didn’t wrote that too), so lets hope the when Frozen is out,it will prove me VERY VERY WRONG==

      • Fadi Antwan

I don’t think they showed much of the music here. And these are not finalized versions. I did love “Love is an Open Door” very much though.

        • Aliscen Khaw

yea that and let it go was nice, but the rest… …i just hope my instincts are wrong for once haha XD

          • Not Without

Bobbie and his wife Kristin are EXTREMELY talented composers. They actually met at the BMI workshop where Alan Menken was discovered and introduced to Howard Ashman. If Princess Frog and Tangled showed us anything, Disney really needs something fresh. Bobby Lopez is one Oscar short of EGOT and he is still very young. I highly encourage you to check out their Finding Nemo musical. It is really just plain wonderful.

          • Aliscen Khaw

actually the orchestra parts were beautiful, i showed my classmates and they liked it, but when it came to the singing parts, they were staring at me as if i pranked them==(oh and i made a slight mistake princess n the frog was done by randy not alan XD sorry)

  • Aliscen Khaw

The voice actors are however really awesome!!! especially Alan Tudyk XD

  • James

All the songs are going to be fantastic! Personally really love the opening for “For the First Time in Forever”.

  • frozen =epic
