We’re days away from the premiere of Pixar’s 30-minute TV special Toy Story of TERROR! and to get us in a spooktacular mood, Pixar has provided a little sneak peak video that sets up the short’s plot.

In the clip, we see old favorites such as Buzz, Woody, Rex, as well as newcomers Trixie and Mr. Pricklepants, as they are investigating the disappearance of Mr. Potato Head at Bonnie’s house. The gang begins discussing strategies regarding how to find him, leading them to find some mysterious goo with tracks leading to a vent. It’s dark, there’s a storm outside, and they begin to wonder if one of them could be next. And suddenly, the next victim gets taken.

Watch the clip below:

What’s great about this clip is that it’s suspenseful and a slight deviation from the normal happy Toy Story vibe. But don’t let that worry you: while there is a scary, spooky tone to this clip, we can be assured that it won’t be as terrifying as it’s making itself out to be. This is a family-friendly franchise about kid’s toys, after all. It’s also clear that the filmmakers are drawing from classic horror movie motifs and references, such as groups splitting off into pairs to find the suspect.

“Oh no, it’s a Combat Carl.”

Another bit of news released this week was that Combat Carl, the famous G.I. Joe-esque action figure that was unfortunately blown up by Sid in the first Toy Story, will make an appearance in this short. Although, it’s looks as though this is a different reiteration of the character, considering the modern Combat Carl looks different than the 1995-version. Check him out below:

Combat Carl is going to be voiced by none other than Carl Weathers. Based on his design, it’s likely that Combat Carl is going to be a tough-as-nail, military man. We also suspect that this Combat Carl will allow himself to get strapped to an explosive.

Cinema Blend also released few other photos:

Soundtrack

And if a video and slew of photos weren’t enough, turns out that Toy Story of TERROR! will also get a soundtrack release, much like The Blue Umbrella. We already knew that Pixar composing veteran Michael Giacchino was scoring the short, so its a treat for Pixar music fans that they’ll be able tobuy his score and keep it forever. The album will be available on October 15, the day before the short premieres on ABC. Check out the track list below, but beware of potential spoilers! You can pre-order the soundtrack on Amazon.
