Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Simpsons Treehouse of Horror’ Couch Gag

treehouse_of_terror_pans_laberynth_stillIt’s that time of year again when we can all look forward to another scary-ful Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror special. This year is super special (at least for me) as Guillermo del Toro (Pacific Rim, Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy) directed the couch gag sequence in the opening and packed it full of delectable Halloween treats.

Del Toro’s main focus for the gag was to pack it full of horror and fantasy references, and mission accomplished! This opening gag has everything from Edgar Allan Poe to Alfred Hitchcock, even some of his own movie references which include Cronos, Mimic, The Devil’s Backbone, Pan’s Labyrinth, and yes even Hellboy.

If you can’t wait until this Sunday for Treehouse of Horror XXIV to air, take a look below at pure genius (yes, I am aware I am biased).
