Pixar fans rejoice! Audiences will finally get a preview of Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur at Disney’s official fan convention, the D23 Expo.
MiceChat did an interview with D23 spokesperson, Jeffrey Epstein, and Producer for the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts D23 Expo Pavilion, Imagineer Dave Fisher. In the lengthy interview, Jeffrey listed 5 reasons not to miss the Expo and said:
The Studios. We can’t tell you exactly what. But let’s just say they will be previewing Frozen, The Good Dinosaur, Tomorrowland, Saving Mr. Banks, and other films they have in the world from Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm. And the stars? Well, you’ll have to be there to see for yourself!
Previews of The Good Dinosaur, Frozen AND other films from the world of Disney and Pixar? I’m in! Not to mention other hotly anticipated films such as Brad Bird’s Tomorrowland and the Walt Disney biographical film Saving Mr. Banks.
This is definitely a motivating factor to attend the D23 Expo this year. Until this point, the majority of the schedule featured mostly panels of Disney Channel TV shows and vastly underrepresented feature animation. I know I, for one, was not too interested in attending D23, but now I’m all in if it means I’ll get to see a preview of Pixar and Disney’s newest film (and potentially other future films)! (Not to mention there also will be a concert by both Alan Menken and Richard Sherman, which is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for any Disney music fan).
Last year at Destination D, the first official preview of Frozen was revealed to audiences. While it contained little more than concept art and a preview of Elsa’s song “Let It Go”, it still got me pumped up and all aboard the Frozen hype train. Selfishly, I hope that the preview for The Good Dinosaur will be a little more substantial than Frozen‘s and will debut a trailer for the film. Disney has been known to hold some of the best, exclusive sneak peaks and information for its superfans at these events, so holding The Good Dinosaur trailer until isn’t completely out of left field.
New panels, presentations and events for the 2013 D23 Expo are being announced each and every day. So while the schedule seems a bit lopsided right now (if you’re not that into the Disney Channel), we can definitely expect Disney to be holding onto the best news for last. Hopefully, in the next few weeks, we’ll get even more Disney and Pixar animation news for the Expo!
The D23 Expo will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center on August 9-11.
Will you be attending D23? Morgan will be there, so let’s start planning a Rotoscopers meetup! Who’s down?
