Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra, who will be voicing the character of Ishani in Disney’s upcoming animated film Planes, has debuted a new song titled “Fly High” for the film.
On the new song (her first song on a movie soundtrack), she says:
“From the first time that the team from Disney proposed that I sing Fly High, I was hugely excited. I love the song and believe that it is a great way to introduce audiences across the world to my character Ishani. The song captures the essence of who Ishani is — sassy and strong and on par with all the boys! It’s actually the first time that I have lent my voice to one of my films and this is very exciting for me! The response has been fabulous and I’m humbled and happy!”
Chopra plays the reigning Pan-Asian champion from India, Ishani, who is exotic, mysterious and ruthless in the skies. Thanks to her high-speed competitiveness and talent, she amasses more than a billion loyal fans — including one rookie racer who turns to her for guidance. Ishani is full of surprises, but always has her eye on the prize.
It’s nice to (finally) see a great character represent not just India, but girl power in a mostly male-dominated film about planes and racing.

From DisneyToon Studios, Planes soars into theaters August 9.
