Looks like Walt Disney Animation Studios is continuing to cool the summer heatwave by delighting us with the Japanese trailer to its newest animated film Frozen.
A few weeks ago, we were finally treated to our first official Frozen trailer, which featured a comedic exchange between Sven the reindeer and Olaf the snowman. But looks like the Japanese were the lucky ones because their trailer gives us our first look at the fully rendered human characters, specifically the princesses–Anna and Elsa.
The trailer starts off with Princess Elsa’s coronation ceremony, which seems happy, romantic and oh-so-very Disney. But then the clip breaks into a frenzied storm of scenes, featuring various characters, icy henchmen and blast of snow—ultimately preparing audiences for a movie filled with lots of action and excitement (translation: Attention boys, this movie is cool. You’ll like it. We swear!).
I’m beyond thrilled with Elsa’s character in this clip. We get to see a somewhat sweet side of her and then that gets contrasted with “mean” Elsa. It’s fantastic and should lead to some great character development—something which we haven’t seen in a Disney female character, let alone princess, in a long time. As well, Anna looks fantastic and is definitely dispels the opinion that she’s a rehashing of Rapunzel. I can’t wait to actually hear Kristen Bell’s voice come out of her and see more of her personality.
And, as expected, the internet went berserk for this trailer. While the original teaser trailer was met with a tepid reception, it seems Disney fans are all in with this one and labeling it a winner.
Frozen blasts into theatres November 27, 2012. Check out the trailer and screenshots below! Also, check out Morgan’s YouTube review of the trailer at the bottom of this post.
