THR first reported earlier last week that DreamWorks Animation has acquired the rights to the Trolls franchise. For those of us who grew up before the millennium, this is exciting news! Formerly, the Trolls had enjoyed shelf life (see what I did there) in several video games as well as an animated TV series.
There is still a lot of time before they release any actual information in regards to how they will use the Trolls, but regardless if it’s in an animated film, TV series or all things possible with this franchise, we may have something new to look forward to.
Heading the Trolls overhaul at DWA is Shawn Dennis who formerly worked for the American Girl doll company, and transformed it into a household name. So chances are, by the end of this decade, every home in America will have at least 1 colorful, belly bejeweled troll doll…much like in the early 90’s.
