Undefined Pixar Project To Be Scored By Michael Giacchino

Michael-Giacchino-John-Lasetter-PixarBig Screen Animation reports that composer Michael Giacchino (The Incredibles, Ratatouille) claimed to be working on a “secret Pixar project” during an interview in Switzerland. He said he’s working on a ‘Pixar thing, a project that hasn’t been spoken of yet’.

We know Thomas Newman is scoring The Good Dinosaur, so maybe Giacchino is referring to Pete Docter’s Inside Out, although that’s not a secret project at all. The  Star Trek Into Darkness composer didn’t specify if it was a feature film or a short film. His work for La Luna was absolutely beautiful so either way, we’ll get a great score.

Giacchino did, however, confirm he was scoring Animation-God Brad Bird’s Tomorrowland (2014) and who knows if he’ll be chosen to inherit John Williams’s job as composer to a little indie movie called Star Wars: Episode VII (2015). It’d be interesting that if Giacchino does score Inside Out and Episode VII, both projects will share a composer as well as a screenwriter (Toy Story 3′s Michael Arndt).

Are you excited to hear of Giacchino’s return to Pixar?

Pablo Ruiz is a Colombian filmmaker. Movies like Toy Story, The Lion King and Aladdin made him fall in love with the art form and now he hopes to dedicate his life to telling stories, hopefully for Pixar (if they go back to doing original films). Some of his ambitions are making a movie as emotionally impacting as Toy Story 3, meeting JK Rowling, and petting a million dogs. Follow him on Twitter (@PabloRV7).
