The Disney Insider, a great official blog from the beloved studios, published a post about “the story behind the story of Monsters University”. They speak about the process of developing the story and it teaches us a little about how Pixar works. You can read it here.
The post contains some interesting details like the fact John Lasseter, Pete Docter and probably all members of Pixar’s Brain Trust give monthly feedback on the film. So the filmmakers are constantly rewriting, re-drawing and coming up with fresher ideas. It also says the development team went to different colleges and universities to capture the feel, which we know they’ve done before with most of their movies.
It’s a great article about the development of the movie and it’s definitely worth a read! The first 40 minutes of the film were previewed and received positive reviews by Pixar bloggers.
