Epic-Characters

epic-girl-hummingbirdAlright folks, here is the newest trailer for Epic! In case you didn’t know, Epic is about a girl, Mary Katherine, who gets shrunken down and has to figure out how to survive in the forest with other little people who are the protectors of said forest. While the animation looks top-notch, one cannot help but to be disappointed that the emphasis is not being placed on the storyline in this trailer, but rather on the A-list actors who are lending their voices to the film.

Recently, director Chris Wedge has been doing some interviews about his film.

“The film [not only] represents an evolution for Blue Sky technically, but also in storytelling.  We’ve always felt character was most important. For me, watching audiences and watching movies, characters are what they love. But I love worlds too,” said Wedge.

Let’s face it: Blue Sky has been producing Ice Age movies for far too long. Right now, it is quite exciting to see the company expand and focus on storytelling in another world.

“Rest assured,” said Wedge, “you’re going to get plenty of swashing and buckling, with characters trying to live up to and beyond their potential, including Mary Katherine’s arc, which not only is going to involve acclimating to this strange world, but will also involve helping her father discover it from within, having a role in its most important moments.”

Yeah! Character development, action, good storytelling… What could go wrong?

Pitbull, you better not ruin this for us!
