D23, the official Disney fan club, will hold a special screening of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas in an event they’re calling “Second Screen Live.” It will take place April 15 at 3 p.m. at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. It is free to all D23 members, but tickets are limited and must be reserved online.
The event’s name comes from a bonus feature called Disney Second Screen that has been included on several Blu-rays like The Lion King and Tron: Legacy. It allows viewers to sync their iPad to the movie to access exclusive artwork, trivia, and activities that correspond with what’s happening in the film. This is the first time, however, that the technology has been used in a theater experience. All attendees must bring an iPad in order to participate in the screening.
Despite the somewhat bizarre time and location of the event (especially seeing as we’re nowhere near Halloween or Christmas), it seems like it will be a fun time all around for those who can attend.
