Not only did Wreck-It Ralph please critics and audiences alike, but a few Imagineers loved it so much, they sparked an idea and ran with it. Walt Disney Imagineering is the branch of Disney that creates the magic that inhabits the theme parks, and three of its employees—Jason Grandt, Andy Sinclair-Harris, and Morgan Ditta—had a blast on Twitter earlier this week sharing fun doodles for us all to enjoy.
Inspired by the “Sugar Rush” game from Wreck-It Ralph, the trio individually sketched and posted concepts for “Sugar Rush”-type racers, but with an Epcot theme. Characters emerged like Livinda Seas (based on The Living Seas), Sparkanna Imagination (based on the song “One Little Spark” from the Imagination pavilion), and others. What was at first known as “Epcot Center Rush” was soon deemed “WDW Rush” as drawings expanded to include themes from other areas of Walt Disney World like Adventureland and Fort Wilderness. Pretty soon, others in the Twitterverse were also contributing their doodle ideas.
It’s important to note that the drawings are no more than just fun ideas meant to evoke a few smiles on the Internet. They are not part of any Wreck-It Ralph theme park attraction, and there are no plans to bring “WDW Rush” to any sort of reality. But… that doesn’t negate that the pictures are pretty clever, and it’s always neat to see one part of Disney inspiring another arm of the company.
