Animation studio Reel FX has announced that their upcoming Thanksgiving film, Turkeys, has been moved up an entire year and is now set for release on November 1, 2013 (the same spot that DreamWorks’ Mr. Peabody and Sherman was originally scheduled for).
It has also announced that Turkeys will be a “buddy film” and will feature the voice talents of Owen Wilson, Woody Harrelson and Amy Poehler.
Poehler will be the female lead opposite Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson, joined by a supporting cast that includes Colm Meaney, Keith David, Dan Fogler, Downton Abbey’s Lesley Nicol, and George Takei.
Turkeys focuses on two rebellious turkeys who use a time machine to travel back to the first Thanksgiving, where they attempt to eradicate turkeys from the traditional holiday meal. The script is written by Craig Mazin (The Hangover Part II, Identity Thief), John J. Strauss (There’s Something About Mary, The Wild), and David I. Stern (Open Season 2, Open Season 3).
It’s being directed by Jimmy Hayward, who also did Horton Hears A Who! in 2008.
What are YOUR thoughts on this big new announcement? Will the film get done in time?
