This week, Pixar released two new posters for its upcoming film Monsters University.
Poster #1 shows shows both Sully and Mike sporting blue Monsters University letterman jackets (does this mean they’re jocks?). An awkward, retainer-wearing Mike stands on a few course books such as Scarenomics; I’m Scary, You’re Scary; The Power of Screams; and Complete Monster Encyclopedia (all parodies of real-life books such as Freakonomics and I’m Ok, You’re Ok). Poster #2 has Sully relaxing in the top bunk of the duo’s dormrorm, as an annoyed Mike grumbles below.
The sequel, based on the 2001 Monsters, Inc, follows the duo of Mike and Sully in their college glory days before they became best buds. Both posters nicely set up the conflict between the two characters: clearly Sully is the cool kid on campus, while Mike is the nerdy, academic loser.
