DreamWorks and its new distributor 20th Centry Fox just announced their upcoming slate of animated films that will go through 2016. In total there are a total of 12 films, averaging roughly 3 releases a year. We always knew that DreamWorks had quite a few films in its production pipeline, but we didn’t think it was that much!
Of particular note are the newly announced films:
- B.O.O: Bureau of Otherwordly Operations: A ghost story “like you’ve never seen…before” is based on an original idea by the film’s director, Tony Leondis. The screenplay will be written by Tom Wheeler and produced by Maryann Garger. Currently, not much plot is known but we do know that it stars Seth Rogen. The film is set for a November 6, 2015 release.
- How to Train Your Dragon 3: DreamWorks is apparently already banking of the success of its 2014 sequel How to Train Your Dragon 2. The film will have the same director as the sequel, Dean DeBlois, who is also writing both adaptations. No plot summary given yet, but we can only assume (or hope) it will be build on HtTYD2. This thrid installment hits theatres June 18, 2016.
The other films include The Croods, Turbo, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, Me & My Shadow, How to Train Your Dragon 2, Happy Smekday!, The Penguins of Madagascar, Trolls (working title) and Mumai Musical (working title). Many of htese we’ve already covered extensively, so click the hyperlink on each film to learn more about its plot and already reported news.
