Northwest Film Center to Screen Studio Ghibli Films throughout May

Northwest-Film-Center-GhibliAttention, Studio Ghibli fans! The Norhtwest Film Center (NFC) is hosting screenings of Studio Ghibli films throughout the entire month of May in Portland, Oregon.

Studio Ghibli is the famous Japanese animation studio formed by Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata in 1958. The Tokyo studio has produced some of the most well successfull and admired films in the world such as Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away and most recently The Secret of Arrietty.

The NFC said,

Studio Ghibli’s films have been critically praised for their originality, dazzling animation, and epic storytelling and loved by audiences of all ages throughout the world. We are pleased to present this opportunity to see these great films on the big screen on new 35mm prints made especially for this retrospective.

All films will be shown in Japanese with English subtitles, unless otherwise noted. A total of 13 films will be screened with  two or three showings for each film. For a full schedule of showtimes, go the the NFC’s website.
