Don Bluth and Gary Goldman—the famous duo behind the 1980’s Dragon’s Lair videogame—are back in the video game business as they have joined the Storybricks’ team to help with animation and character design. Storybricks is a build-your-own-MMO “toolset that allows users to tell stories in a computer RPG and share them with friends.”
Bluth and Goldman are already established in the video game industry for their work on Dragon’s Lair and are also known for their work on animated films such as The Secret of NIMH, The Land Before Time and Anastasia. On Storybricks’ Kickstarter page, Goldman said:
“Don & I are flattered and, honored, to be involved as consultants/advisors to Storybricks on their inventive new concept and technologies, which will expand the creativity of interactive games. We intend to bring our experience in animation and character design to help provide appealing, believable, thinking characters to Storybricks’ founding partners’ vision for interactive gaming.”
One can assume that Storybricks is hoping the announcement will help boost donations to its Kickstarter campaign in order to reach its $250,000 goal by June 1. If the project meets its goal, it is expected to launch early next year.
Two character designs were released and fall in line with the classic Bluth/Goldman style and are shown below.

What are your thoughts on the characters? Would you want to play this game knowing Bluth and Goldman had contributed?
